Walking Meditation
Join Rev. Beth Banks for a mindfulness walking meditation. Our meditation will follow the teachings of Buddhist teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh. The pace is intentionally slow and deliberate. If you want a pause in your day, this is it. We’ll be focusing on the sights, sounds, and smells of the beautiful UUCD grounds in Spring.
Wear shoes for paved pathways, the Pine Grove, and uneven grassy areas. In his book, The Miracle of Mindfulness, Thich Nhat Hanh wrote, “We are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child, our own two eyes. All is a miracle.”
Thich Nhat Hanh was an internationally known Buddhist leader, who died on January 22, 2022. He modeled engaged Buddhism: working for peace and justice. He taught that mindfulness meditation creates an awareness of what is happening around us. With this experience of connection, we may see the truth more clearly and to choose actions that support the good of all.
