Violin Music: Catherine Heusner

In her book, The Art of Gathering, Priya Parker says that if countries descend into authoritarianism, the right to assemble if one of the first things to be eliminated. When we gather, we exchange ideas, inspire, and make sense of our world. Is it any wonder that, when we have been denied the opportunity to gather freely because of COVID, there is a profound sense of loss?
This is a forward-oriented message. We cherish our gatherings more than ever before. As we come together in our lives, what might we do differently to show our renewed appreciation for our time together?

Catherine Heusner maintains an active private violin studio in Davis, CA.  Past students have been members of youth symphonies and all-state ensembles.  She also teaches at Music Mission San Francisco; an El sistema inspired program for underserved children.  Her education includes studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the University of Southern California where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance.  Her private teachers included Isadore Tinkleman at SFCM and Eudice Shapiro at USC.  Catherine maintains an active membership in the American String Teacher’s Association and Davis Music Teacher’s Association.
