Jim Scott mixes songs and stories in a message of peace and reconciliation for a wounded world and our struggling community. Amid wars, cataclysmic weather events, and a divided society, long term visions of sustainability have lately been obscured if not abandoned. In this season of harvest, optimism and renewal of spirit for the work we have before us, our charge is nothing less than a job of healing, the earth and ourselves.

Our guest today, prolific composer and guitarist Jim Scott is widely known to UUs for his anthem “Gather the Spirit.”  He played for years with the Paul Winter Consort and has made nine recordings of his own music. Jim’s visited more than 700 UU churches, and his songs are in our UU hymnbooks. He was co-chair of the UU Ministry for the Earth and helped create the Green Sanctuary Program. With a grant from the Fund for UUism Jim arranged and edited the “Earth and Spirit Songbook,” an anthology of 110 songs of earth and peace.
