June 5, 10:30am, Senior Graduation: Bridging
Rev. Morgan McLean; Catlyn Le Gault; Barbara Clutter, Worship Support
Sunday’s worship service is full of celebration. It will feature our Bridging Ceremony. This is a special ritual shared by UUs which recognizes those youth graduating high school and entering into young adulthood. As our youth find more independence and new communities, we remind them that this congregation is always here, and that there are many UU communities to support them wherever they go. We will hear from our graduates: Alannah Griesemer, Karina Li, Aislinn Murray, and Davis Robinson. They will receive a special gift and a rose, just like on the day they were dedicated. When they’re young we remove the thorns; now we keep the thorns on, and provide gardening gloves — we hope we have provided some of the tools and resources for our youth to take care of themselves. We will also recognize the moments of bridging including 6th graders going to junior high and 9th graders going to high school.
Our gratitude focus this Sunday will be on the volunteers in our children and youth programs. We are lucky to have these programs led by our staff: Kate Logvy is our RE Coordinator, Willow Spicer is our Youth Coordinator, and Percy McIlraith is our lead elementary Teacher and Childcare provider. As staff they create schedules, review curriculum, and plan special events, alongside the work and creativity of great volunteers.
Our volunteers build special relationships with our children and youth, learning and growing together. Please join me in thanking these folks for their commitment to the future of UUism!
THANK YOU to our teachers and youth leaders: Cliff Ohmart, Barbara Clutter, Maryanne Perlmutter, LuAnn Higgs, Alden Tansey, Debbie Shoup, Meghan Kelly, Catlyn Legault, Chris Griesemer, Ginger Gee, Snow Hernandez, Lorraine Visher, and to our special events helpers: Jessie Stavely, Conklin Family, Torres-Li family (and their tortoises!), Alyssum Maguire, and Mollie Napier.
