IN-PERSON EVENT: Flower Communion

Come, Celebrate Together!

In-Person Covenant

This year’s Flower Communion begins on Saturday, May 1, and continues with the Sunday morning worship service, May 2.

Flower Bouquets:

  • Bring a flower to add to our communal bouquets: these represent the contribution of each person’s unique presence and talents to the whole community. The more varieties and sizes of flowers we add to the vases, the better!  The second half of the ritual is to take home a flower you did not bring. This has a special meaning, too.
  • If you forget to bring a flower, we’ll have one for you.
  • On Sunday, May 2, have your flower ready to show on your device’s camera during the online Sunday worship ritual. If you’re unable to attend our in-person Saturday Celebration, any flower or plant will be perfect. If you attend the online service and forget a flower, there will be a way for you to be included in the ritual.
  • Flower Deliveries: Make a bouquet for those who could use additional cheer because of surgery or illness, or make a delivery. This activity is provided by the Caring Council!

Pine Grove Labyrinth: A Worship Associate will welcome you. Inhale the scent of pine. Center yourself and walk the circuitous path. Thanks to Guardian of the Grounds members, Anne and Ted Hillman, for sprucing-up the labyrinth.

Jazz Trio in Hedges Grove: Enjoy the groovin’ music of Arlyn Anderson, Tim Bulkley, and George Ban-Weiss,

featuring guitar, upright bass, and drums.  Settle into chairs spaced just right for COVID-safety. There will also be space for some distanced-jazzy moving in the grass! This a big thank you to everyone who contributes to this community with their time, talent and financial support. This activity is brought to you by the Worship Team and Stewardship.

The Flower Celebration is an annual service celebrating beauty, diversity, and uniqueness of flowers and humans. Flowers can be gathered to create a beautiful bouquet. Humans can gather to create a beautiful community. Let’s celebrate together the beauty of the earth and of our community.
