20th century UU theologian James Luther Adams named the Five Smooth Stones of liberal religion, which defined the shaping of our religious thought and personal exploration. Nancy Bowen later reframed these as “jagged rocks” in recognition that our faith, and our individual journeys, often have rough edges. Our rough edges make us who we are.
