After a loved one’s death, we come together in community for a time of sacred sharing and memory.

What to Expect

You will meet with the minister to agree on the date and time and to begin planning the service. The minister will get to know the family and hear memories. They will also provide a template Order of Service, suggest readings and hymns, and help coordinate participants.

Though donations are welcome, memorial services are part of being a Member at UUCD. 

Memorial Services Include:

  • Minister helps plan service: Celebration of Life or
    Funeral (with funeral home coordination)
  • 3 hours use of the main building
    (can accommodate up to 160 seated in the Sanctuary; 200 attendees total;
    additional hours charged at Member Renter Rates)
  • Order of Service printing in full color
    (front & back of one page; additional pages at cost)
  • Audio-Visual support (microphones, slide shows, etc.)
  • May request a video recording of the service*
  • Private family space in the Senghas Room
  • Pianist, if requested and if available
  • Interment and coordination with funeral home

Member Only Services include:

  • Reception coordination, set-up, and clean-up by Celebration of Life Team**
  • Option to purchase a Memorial Grove Tile, Order form

Fees for Non-Members***:

  • Church use and support, 3 hours, $650
    (additional hours charged at Renter Rates)
  • Minister helps plan service: Celebration of Life
    or Funeral (with funeral home coordination) $385
  • Minister, Interment and coordination with funeral home, $275
  • Pianist, $150
  • Renter may choose to self-officiate a memorial.
    If bringing in outside clergy, please contact the office as a professional courtesy.  

 

* You may request a recording of the service ahead of time.  If you do, please bring a flash drive (500 GB memory or higher) for the recording.
Editing can be done by AV staff at an added rate of $25/hour.  3-4 hours is standard.

** For UUCD Members, The Celebration of Life Team is a group of volunteers who help take care of the reception following services. They provide coffee and tea. If the family desires more, the team can make suggestions about catering, flowers, and other needs. The team will set-up the space including tablecloths and dishes, optional guest book or memory tables, and coordinate deliveries.
