In 1852, Frederick Douglass was asked to speak to the Ladies’ Anti-Slavery Society in Rochester, New York. Douglass knew their biases and sought to change their minds and hearts. He started, “With little experience and with less learning, I have been able to throw my thoughts hastily and imperfectly together . . .and proceed to lay them before you.”

Guest Soloist: Sheryl Renee Counter is a Sacramento based singer who has performed with many symphonies and opera companies in the Sacramento and Bay Areas.  She is on staff with St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church music program and is affiliated with: American Choral Directors Association, National Association with Negro Musicians, and Friends of Negro Spirituals.
